Biafrans Wait For National Assembly Public Hearing – Barr Emeka

UPDATE ON THE MEMORANDUM FOR DEVOLUTION OF POWER SUBMITTED BY THE BIAFRANS TO THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY:

I write to inform all the Biafrans who believe in the legal methodology of self-determination consisting of the judicial, political and diplomatic processes that this afternoon, I called the Senate Committee of the National Assembly and spoke with the Clerk of the House. I contacted the Senate Committee on behalf of my clients, Customary Government of Indigenous People of Biafra, the Plaintiffs in the on-going case between Biafra and Nigeria in the Federal High Court and Court of Appeal.

I enquired of the date for the Public Hearing on the Memorandum we submitted for Devolution of Power to the Regions by way of Restructuring the Federation. The Clerk informed me that they were at the finishing stage of the process and would soon announce the date for the Public Hearing on the Memoranda submitted by all the parties. He said that the date for the Public Hearing would be announced, published and made known “all over the place” (to use his exact phrase).

I therefore advise all the Biafrans under the authority of the Customary Government of Indigenous People of Biafra to be patient as we shall have the opportunity to present our case in the National Assembly for the Restructuring of Nigeria into Regional Governments by way of Devolution of Power so that every Region will govern itself and develop at its own pace in Nigeria. Regional Autonomy is the Phase 2 of the Biafra Project.
