The Presidency threatened legal action against influencer VeryDarkMan over an alleged deepfake audio of President Tinubu circulating online. Separately, police in Ogun State arrested a man for staging fake bandit attack videos and posting them on TikTok.
Authorities say both cases are part of a wider effort to curb the spread of false content that could fuel panic or damage reputations. This signals tougher enforcement against AI-generated fakes and staged content as Nigeria heads toward 2027, with creators and platforms likely to face increased scrutiny.
