Biafra De Facto Customary Government, BDFCG, has said that after careful examination of the short, medium and long-term issues on discriminate States and local territorial population boundary partition, demarcations and adjustments, it is advocating for the bill on Anioma to be adopted and passed as the sixth state of South East Zone of Nigeria.

Two separate bills are currently in the floors the national assembly; one presented at the House of Representatives by Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere for the proposed Orlu State, and another at the Senate by Senator Ned Nwoko for the proposed Anioma State.

In a statement issued by its Spokesperson, Prosper Odinga, the Biafran group called on all stakeholders to immediately engage and collaborate to gear support for the adoption and passing of the bill on Anioma State.

It explained that supporting the creation of a sixth state in the South East aligns with BDFCG’s policies anchored on the tenets of rule of law and democracy, though it noted that recent proposal at the national assembly is being read by attentive observers as a move to remedy longstanding Nigeria institutional discrimination against the South East zone.

The group said though they are Biafrans by de facto national identity, and still Nigerians by colonial political independence citizenship, it will continue to partake in all legitimate endeavors for a common good.
