Anambra State Government, through the state ministry of health, has commenced a five-day residential training for Tuberculosis, Bruli Ulcer and Leprosy Supervisors in the state.

It was gathered that the training, which is ongoing in Awka, has supervisors working in various local government areas, as well as those working at the state level as participants.

In his remarks, the Head of Medical Services in the ministry of health, Dr. Ugochukwu Chukwulobelu said that the training is very important to the state and those managing the three diseases; as it would enable them gather sufficient knowledge that would help them to efficiently execute their Jobs.

Dr. Chukwulobelu revealed that the training, before now, was being done in Zaria, but because of insecurity in the country, Governor Chukwuma Soludo gave approval for the exercise to hold in Awka.

He pointed out that they have recorded over two thousand, seven hundred cases of tuberculosis this year, and appealed to people to avoid clustering in a crowded place if they have no business being there, saying that the state government is doing everything possible to eradicate the spread of the killer diseases in the state.

The Anambra State Acting Director of Public Health, Dr. Afam Aneme said that tuberculosis anywhere is tuberculosis everywhere, and described the training as critical in winning the war against tuberculosis, bruli ulcer and leprosy.

Dr. Aneme explained that tuberculosis, which is a droplet disease, can travel to someone’s brain, spinal cord or intestine, which makes it easy for the disease to kill its carrier with ease, calling for all hands to be on deck in the fight against the killer disease.

A facilitator, Dr. Chijioke Oke lectured the participants on all they need to know about the three diseases, how to efficiently manage them, as well as how to relate with patients for enhanced service delivery.
