ARTMA Initiates Reforms To Tackle Reports Of Extortion

Following growing reports of extortion from traffic violators by different groups across Anambra State, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ARTMA, Engineer Emeka Okonkwo (KONTI) has taken bold steps to checkmate any related development.

The ARTMA MD/CEO has directed the issuance of unique numbers to officers for easy identification, and also authorized an identification number crested alongside the official logo on vests and caps of ARTMA workers.

The ARTMA office complaint/suggestion number is also written on the back of all the enforcement officers for quick reach to the agency’s head office.

The ARTMA boss has also directed that no officer without the full enforcement kits is allowed to apprehend any defaulting road users as they cannot be considered as an ARTMA officer.

Road users are therefore advised to immediately report any group or persons impersonating ARTMA or trying to extort funds in the name of traffic management.

The enforcement team have also been mandated to provide video and pictorial evidence of defaulters or the said defaulter would be let to go for free when they get to the offices- the reason for this is to ensure that no vehicle is impounded wrongly.

ARTMA office can be reached on 08144228836.
