Embattled owner of Marlian Records, Azeez Fashola, also called Naira Marley Splash 105.5 FM may have more troubles coming his way as some radio stations have started placing a ban on all songs from the label on their frequencies on the Oyo State capital’s Splash 105.5 FM radio station and privately owned radio stations are among those who have made their opposition to music from Marlian Records known to the public.

According to a Twitter post by Aderonke Adesola, a presenter at the station, the management places an indefinite ban on the songs of the CEO of Marlian Records. She said Marley’s songs have been placed on “Not to Be Broadcast” (NTTB) on the radio frequencies by the station’s management.

The post read: “Good evening team. In view of the sensitive nature around the death of Mohbad and the criminal procedure, the police have commenced, I will urge us all to exercise discretion.”

“To this effect, Naira Marley’s songs have become NTBB ( not to be broadcast) on our station till further notice. This is with immediate effect. Thank you. ”Naira Marley, who parted ways with MohBad in 2022, has been accused of having a hand in the death of his former signee, an allegation which he denied. In a statement he issued last week, Marley described MohBad’s death as painful . Similarly, some private Radio Stations in Ekiti State, on Tuesday blacklisted all songs under the banner of the Marlian Records label. First to make public its decision via its verified Instagram account, (@freshfm1069adoekiti) was Fresh FM, 106.9, Ado-Ekiti, others that later followed suit were Voice FM, 89.9, also in Ado-Ekiti and New Cruse, 92.6 FM located in Ikere-Ekiti.

The managements of the radio stations appeared unanimous in their decisions which was a fall out of the death of the popular Nigerian singer and former signee of Marlian Records, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji, also known as MohBad , under controversy circumstances. The radio stations forbid the playing of Marlian records on their airwaves.

A statement on the Instagram page of fresh FM authored by Oluwasefunmi Williams on Tuesday, the station wrote: “Following the public outcry from the general public trialing the death of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (Mohbad), the alleged victimization from different videos going viral and the involvement of members of his previous record label (Marlian records), fresh 106.9 FM has suspended the airplay of all songs and contents under the banner of Marlian Records.” Fortune Omosola, who spoke on behalf of the management of Voice FM said, “ we have decided to suspend further usage of Marlian artists on our airwaves.

Similarly, the Station Manager of Newcriuse FM, Joshua Adegbite also confirmed that “songs from the stable of Marlian records has been banned here till further notice”.

Nigeria needs over 900k classrooms to absorb out-of-school children  —  UBEC

The statement stated that the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Hammed Boboyi disclosed the figure while briefing the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman about the agency’s activities. The current official figure of out-of-school children in Nigeria could not be independently verified as of September 2023, but a 2022 report by UNESCO estimated that Nigeria has approximately 20 million children, who are not enrolled either in primary or secondary schools.

The UNESCO data contradicted the figure the former Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu attributed to the out-of-school children in the country during the administration of former President, Muhammadu Buhari. In August 2022, Adamu, said the number of out of school children in Nigeria dropped from an estimated 13 million to 6.9 million. He maintained that the number dropped due to the massive enrolment and the collaborative efforts between the federal and state governments.

However, according to the statement by the UBEC, the Minister of Education has promised that “his administration will prioritize basic education in the country, emphasizing that the foundation level is the most critical segment in the sector which must be properly developed to impact positively on other tiers of the sector and overall National Development.”

Prof Tahir also called on all state governments to show greater commitment towards providing counterpart funding to accelerate the development of basic Education in the country. He assured that the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that every child in the country is brought on board the ship of education, adding that the forthcoming National Census would end the controversies surrounding the actual figures of out-of-school children.

Obasanjo explains why African youths support rising military coups

Former Nigeria President Olusegun Obasanjo has shed light on the reasons behind the increasing support of African youths for military coups sweeping across the continent.

Obasanjo made these remarks during an interactive session with a group of young Africans associated with the Africa for Africa Youth Initiative (A4A), a platform founded by Reverend Chris Oyakhilome. Drawing from his extensive experience, Obasanjo expressed that the surge in military coups in Africa indicates that the continent’s youth are yearning for liberators. Despite his own tumultuous encounter with late General Sanni Abacha’s regime, he emphasized that certain conditions have been conducive to the rise of military power grabs in various African nations.

Having served as both a military leader and democratically elected president of Nigeria, Obasanjo noted that African youths are enthusiastic about these coups because they seek liberation. Since 2020, the African continent has witnessed military coups in seven countries, with Niger and Gabon being the latest additions to the list.

Obasanjo remarked, “If we don’t address the underlying conditions that fuel these coups, they may persist. We must do everything in our power to prevent such incidents. “The former president highlighted that it is predominantly the youth who support these coups, emphasizing, “The coup leader in Gabon was being carried on the shoulders of the youths, not by elderly individuals like myself. The youth are searching for liberators, and we must take note of that. Why should we let them seek liberators outside of the government in power?

Obasanjo challenged African leaders to establish and uphold true democratic principles embedded with God-given attributes as a means to deter future coups on the continent. In a pointed statement, he urged long-serving politicians to consider retirement, stating, “If you’ve been in government for 40 years and you’re not weary, perhaps it’s time to retire.

BREAKING: Atiku storms Supreme Court, seeks nullification of Tribunal judgment

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku has approached the Supreme Court seeking a nullification of the Presidential Election Petition Court’s judgement, which on September 6, upheld the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as winner of the 2023 presidential election.

Atiku in the Notice of Appeal predicated on 35 grounds, insisted that the tribunal in the judgment delivered by Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani committed grave error and miscarriage of justice in its findings and conclusion in the petition challenging the declaration of Tinubu as President by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The Notice of Appeal just filed by Atiku’s lead counsel, Chief Chris Uche, SAN, is praying the Supreme Court to set aside the whole findings and conclusions of the Tribunal on the grounds that they did not represent the true picture of the grounds of his petition.

Among others, the former Vice President maintained that the Tribunal erred in law when it failed to nullify the presidential election held on February 25, 2023, on the grounds of non-compliance with the Electoral Act, 2022, when by evidence before the tribunal, INEC conducted the election based on grave and gross misrepresentation contrary to the principles of the Electoral Act 2022 and based on the “doctrine of legitimate expectation”.

Igba Boyi: Maikyau, Amadi, Otti, others Support Igbo apprenticeship model for young lawyers

President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr. Yakubu Maikyau, SAN has declared NBA’s support for the Igba Boyi – Igbo apprenticeship system while assuring that the scheme would be expanded to become a national mentorship policy of the federal government.

Maikyau was a guest at the endowment launch and introduction of Igba Boyi within the legal profession. It was organized by Igbo lawyers under the umbrella of Otu Oka-iwu Abuja.

At the event which had a former Attorney General of the Federation, Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN, Senator Ben Obi, Abia State Governor Alex Otti and many others in attendance, one time CEO of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr. Sam Amadi, called on the federal government to scrap the Nigerian Law School, saying current reality shows that the institution has outlived its usefulness.

According to Amadi, who is also the director, Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, the Nigerian Law School was established to provide practical knowledge for young lawyers but no longer serving its purpose.

Describing the Nigerian legal system as one of the most corrupt in the world, Amadi maintained that the law school is a waste of time and resources, adding that it should be scrapped

He said: “So, I think that we need to rethink the whole framework of Nigeria. In my view, the law school is failing. It is no longer serving its purpose. The law school is designed to provide technical practical education. So the question I ask is, what are they providing? My view is, that purpose is best served at a law firm. Many lawyers who go to law school do not practice. Some of them go into journalism, broadcasting, or they go and teach in the university. So I would like us to strengthen the university education for lawyers in order for them to have a broad analytical competency.

“In the United States, when you finish your legal education in the university, you do a quick exam for call as lawyers. Here, we can license our universities to take three to six months special rush course for our law students to qualify to practice. After that, they go to the chambers where they learn real practice. The only way one can get pupillage is in a law firm.

“What is the law school providing for our young graduates? The law school is not rigorous, either academic or practical. So my view is we must focus on universities to give robust academic training. Those who want to practice law should go and do some crash course in the universities to get qualified as lawyers. Then they go to the law firms or corporate places to learn corporate law or legal practice.

“Law as practiced is not thought in the law school. Stop the law school and the waste of resources. Accredit universities to do three to six months, just like they do in America. After graduating as a lawyer, you go and take classes and pass the instructions and get called to the bar. Then all the learning will happen at a law firm where senior lawyers now have obligation to train those young lawyers to understand the practice.”

The human rights lawyer further described as a welcome development the idea of replicating the Igbo apprenticeship model where young lawyers will be able to gain valuable internship experience at reputation law firms.

According to him, the model which he said is now studied at Harvard is a unique way of knowledge transfer and it is needed to save the law profession from moral disaster.

He said: “The idea is that lawyers will seek knowledge from the established ones and also, the established lawyers will also be generous enough to support our young people, not just knowledge but in paying them. So what the Igbo lawyers are trying to do is to provide funding to encourage young people so that with the help of the senior lawyers, the junior ones will acquire not just knowledge, and also virtue.

“Today, the law and judiciary is like the most corrupt part of Nigerian society because everybody wants to make money. So I want to say that if we can restore back pupillage and make it real and provide incentive for young people to go and learn, then we can save the law profession from a moral disaster. This is a totally disastrous state. The law professional is shameful and undignified because of the behavior of lawyers and judges.

Meanwhile, Maikyau, who hailed the lawyers for the initiative described the Igbo apprenticeship scheme as the best way to transfer skills, character and knowledge.

He, however, pleaded that the scheme should not be limited to only lawyers of Igbo extraction.

He said: “If you are the best of lawyers without character, there is no way that intellect is going to transfer or translate into value. So this is a mentorship model. Like I said, it is welcomed into our fold as lawyers, but please let us not limit it to the Igbos. We should extend it to others. We should take it to the north and west because this is something that is going to bring benefit to each and every one of us.

“So as I congratulate you for coming up with this idea, this is something that has actually distinguished the Igbo nation across the world and you can see how effective it has been to transforming the Igbo nation to an enterprising nation. And that’s one thing you can’t take away from the Igbos.

“The Initiative is something that the NBA wholly supports. And I believe that since I am your ambassador, whatever we agree here, give it to me and we’ll pass it across the nation. I would actually be glad to receive the resolution from this meeting as I’ll pass it across to government. We will make a recommendation that this becomes a national mentorship policy of the federal government of Nigeria.

President, Otu Oka-Iwu Abuja, Ejiofor Onwuaso said the endowment fund is a legacy project aimed at replicating the success of Ndigbo in business within the legal profession by institutionalizing mentorship and career development for young lawyers.

He said though the legal profession was originally modelled to imbibe the practice of pupillage, the exponential growth in the number of fresh graduates emerging from the Nigerian Law School yearly has made it impracticable for existing law firms and forbears to absorb such young lawyers in their law firms for purposes of pupillage.

According to him, this lack of capacity and financial resources on the part of the few established law firms to absorb the huge population of young lawyers within the profession often lead to a misplacement of priority, lack of proper mentoring, guidance and missed opportunity on the part of such innocent young wigs who, he said often time derail from the focal point of building a career path along their chosen profession.

On the selection process, he said: “For now, the threshold is young lawyers with one to five years’ experience. These are the people that are most vulnerable and exposed. The most germane thing this does for them is that if you don’t have someone shaping your focus along the path of sustainable development, you may derail having spent years at the university as well as the law school. That age long aspiration might be lost on the altar of lack of adequate mentorship and privileges of having a law firm to attach with.

“We also aim to run a model of minimum of six months. For now, it’s subjects to the availability of funds. That’s why we’re doing the endowment launch to see if we can raise funds to enable us finance this salary. We’re proposing a stipend of at least N50,000 at the moment to see if it can cater for their transportation needs. Also, we are trying to impress it upon the law firms who are our partners as well, that it doesn’t stop, start and end with the stipend we are offering. Of their own volition they may choose to augment but the focal point is to offer a platform to young lawyers to learn and to perfect the scale of legal practice.”(TheNiche).

Group Condemns Exploitation Of Parents In Missionary Institutions, Tasks Government On Building Model Schools

Failure of state governments in Biafraland to promote quality and affordable education in public schools have become sources of worry to a pro-Biafran group, Biafra De Facto Customary Government, BDFCG.

According to the group, public schools in Biafraland have suffered neglect and abandonment, and have become places where children of the poor are sent to be forgotten.
“The curriculum is outdated and irrelevant to the needs of students in the 21st century, and the reward system for teachers is ineffective”.

Lamenting the development in a statement issued by BDFCG Spokesperson, Prosper Odinga, the group insisted that Governors in Biafraland must now pay strict attention to this important sector by building model schools, and setting high standards and mandating public servants to enroll their children in public schools.
“That way, the competitive edge of private/missionary schools will be checked”.

BDFCG also charged “Biafracentric politicians” (politicians who are committed to improving the lives of Biafran people) to go into government to reform the education system, in order to bring solution to the problems of technology, housing, food, health, and inequality.
“The education system is currently on the concurrent list of the Nigerian Constitution, which means that both the federal and state governments have jurisdiction over it. BDFCG believes that the education system should be tailored to solve the problems of technology, housing, food, health, and inequality”.

It condemned corruption in the education system, including exploitation of struggling parents in most private and missionary schools; using imposition of customized books and other reading materials, and called for a revolutionary overhaul to save the generation of Biafran children.
“We have noted the exploitation of struggling parents in most private schools, including the imposition of customized books and other reading materials. This should be reviewed. It is also not acceptable for missionary schools to ask parents to pay for reading tables and chairs, something that should be provided by the school as part of its assets”.

The group said it will continue to advocate for Biafra ideology which will guarantee good governance, equity, fairness and justice.

September 2023: Why we started Good Governance Ministry (GGM)

The problem with our current political class is greed and abnormal appetite for consumption and perhaps building an unsustainable consumption pattern.

The northern and south western political and military Elites are using the advantages of civil war that ended in 1970 to exploit and enslave the victims of that war and sadly the entire Nigerian masses ended up being the victims. The political and military elites have continued to use unitary constitution in the name of federal constitution to retain political power at the centre ,thereby frustrating innovation and creativity that would have enhance a productive true federalism where every Nigerian would be engaged in viable productive activities.

The political ,business, military and religious elites have amassed so much wealth for the generations of their children and grand children, hence the widening income inequalities that have threatened the corporate existence of Nigeria.

Everything is wrong with current Nigeria system. The system is designed and structured to keep the working class in perpetual slavery and that is why the four refineries in Nigeria are not working. Dangote Refinery is funded by Government mercenaries. Dangote refinery has also gotten licence to import fuel while millions of youths in Nigeria are jobless and those in Europe and America work as modern slaves . These political and military elites are heartless and most wicked that they have sold their souls to the devil . These people are satanic indeed !

GGM supported Peter Obi not because he is a saint but because he is better than other career politicians.Peter Obi messages have connected and resonated with millions of Nigerians that about 30 million voters who were never interested in the Nigeria electoral process all moved out on the street on 25th February,2023 to vote for Peter Obi and Daitti Ahmed . Obidient Movement took the Nigeria political class by storm and like rampaging soldiers bulldozed the entire criminal political structures in Nigeria . Labour party without any elected officer in Nigeria won the presidential election but INEC announces only12 states including FCT and Lagos to Mr Peter Obi .Though ,INEC anointed Bola Ahmed Tinubu – President through daylight manipulation of result sheets and shutting of Presidential IREV portal, however, the power of the people is supreme ( chapter 14(2a &b of Nigeria constitution).

We have learnt an obvious lesson : that the leader of GGM – Chinedu Asuzu or any chosen candidate can win the Governor of Anambra State or any chosen State : for the power of the people is the greatest. They have been deceiving and dividing us with money , ethnicity and religion . Now ,we are wise ,we will choose our Leaders goingforward!

The awareness has been created and people eyes have been opened to know that political power belongs to the people .

Good Governance Ministry is here to organize the people to pursue ideological politics . The Nigerian politicians could disappoint the people but GGM will always be there for the ordinary people.

GGM has gone a long way and has extended her searchlight to the entire Africa. We are on the part of history.
