100% Unknown Gunmen Are Igbo – Soludo

The Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, has identified the unknown gunmen unleashing terror on the state as Igbo people, saying that the perpetrators are not invaders.

Soludo said suspects arrested so far “are 100 per cent Igbo,” but noted that the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) had distanced itself from the crime.

The former Central Bank of Nigeria governor spoke on Sunday in an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

He, however, said his administration had put in place several measures to end the menace.

He said, “They are plain criminals. Some of these criminals also hide under the cloak of agitation but IPOB has repeatedly distanced itself from the criminals.

They are kidnappers and plain criminals and they indulge in these because it is lucrative. Anambra is without a doubt the richest state in the South-East so this is the state where kidnapping has the highest value and so you will have their highest concentration here.

“But we are decimating them. They are not unknown gunmen, they are unknown to the extent that maybe are not caught immediately. But I can tell you we’ve been catching quite a lot of them and they already know that Anambra is not safe for them anymore.

“Let me be clear about it, 100 per cent of the people we have caught are Igbo. There is no hoax that somebody is invading from somewhere. It is 100 per cent Igbo on Igbo.

Anambra receives its proportional share of an influx of Igbo from other South-East states and other parts of Nigeria. At the initial stage when we stage and the first set of people we caught are Igbo from the South-East states and not from Anambra. But as we went on, we discovered that a whole lot of the youth are joining them and we have not disguised among them, we are dealing with them equally.”

The governor stated that several operations are ongoing to address the insecurity, adding that Anambra residents now enjoy relative peace.

“The 8.5 million residents in Anambra can testify to you that insecurity has come down to the barest minimum. At least, in the last three months, cases of insecurity that seem to be daily affairs have come to a halt.

“We have decimated criminal gangs and their infrastructures and I don’t think they have the capacity again to come with the kind of ferocity they have in the past.

Anambra has been relatively peaceful recently and we are pursuing a peaceful agenda. Compared to many other places in Nigeria, I will say if we have to have the statistics in the last three months, I think Anambra will compete favorably as one of the safest comparatively.

“We are not relenting. The operations are ongoing. Many communities are now at peace and having their new yam festival celebrations and these are things that weren’t possible in the past. Millions of events are also taking place simultaneously.”

The governor urged the residents to be patient while the government tackled the menace which he said took years to take root.

He added, “It took years for them to take root and build about 15 camps all over the eight local governments. Their activities won’t disappear in three months. But we are not relenting, we are putting in all our efforts and we are determined to make Anambra safe and secure for the residents and businesses.

Tinubu embarrasses Self At Gombe Emir’s Palace

Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu dozed off on Saturday during a meeting with the Emir of Gombe, Abubakar Shehu-Abubakar, in what could further suggest frailty of his health

Mr Tinubu was in Gombe primarily to attend the wedding of Misbahu Inuwa Yahaya, son of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya. He then stopped by for a brief homage and political meeting at the Emir’s Palace, accompanied by political bigwigs that included Senate President Ahmed Lawan and federal cabinet secretary Boss Mustapha.

According to Peoples Gazette, the APC presidential candidate and his allies were at the palace to seek support of the top northern monarch for his 2023 presidential ambition.

As the meeting got underway, Mr Tinubu was captured sleeping while Mr Lawan was holding the microphone addressing attendees at the emir’s living room.

It was not immediately clear why Mr Tinubu dozed off, but speculations are rife on social media about the development, with critics saying it marked another evidence of his weakness while his supporters said he was barely ‘meditating’.

A spokesman for Mr Tinubu’s campaign did not immediately return a request seeking comments about the matter, which comes as opposition intensifies claims that the ruling party’s presidential candidate has been battling serious health challenges.

Mr Tinubu, 70, has been seen making incoherent remarks or tripping over in public in recent months.

He has however dismissed public worries about his condition, saying that the job of president requires more intelligence than physical strength.

Atiku VP Resorts To Undemocratic Action – Peter Obi Support Group

The Peter Obi Support Network regretfully alert Nigerians to the irresponsible resort to hooliganism by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as he sent his thugs to disrupt a free medical outreach organised by Diasporan Medics For Good Governance in conjunction with Doctors 4 Peter Obi in Ogbonologo market in Asaba, Delta State.

Governor Okowa who is also the vice-presidential candidate of the opposition People’s Democratic Party reportedly sent a group of thugs led by the Chairman of Oshimili South LGA of the State, Mr. Kelvin Obi Ezenyili gave no valid reason for stopping hundreds of anxious citizens, who are victims of Okowa’s poor governance from accessing a free medical intervention organised by responsible professionals whose only aim is to meet the medical needs of these Deltans.

It is rather unfortunate that instead of showing gratitude to these selfless medical professionals who tasked themselves to provide useful health interventions to the citizenry, Governor Okowa chose to exhibit his reckless wickedness by disrupting the exercise.

We understand that Okowa’s action is a reflection of his Party’s electoral insecurity and a demonstration of their frustration with their clear and loud rejection by all classes of Nigerians who have made no pretentions about their preference for the Labour Party as the vehicle to birth good governance and rescue them from years of mindless dictatorship and reckless rape of their commonwealth, accentuated by an inexplicable dearth of public amenities and any semblance of good governance.

Governor Okowa must be advised that a resort sheer hooliganism and deployment of unlawful force cannot stop the people’s resolve to take back their country and enthrone good governance across board.

In line with the character and philosophy of the incoming President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Mr Peter Obi and in keeping with the guiding principle of the ObiDatti Campaign, members of Labour Party in Delta State, volunteers and our supporters from across different political leanings have restrained themselves from responding in kind to Okowa’s thugs as they conducted themselves in the most responsible manner, even in the face of unwarranted provocations by PDP’s thugs.

We enjoin all our members, especially, delegates attending the Southeast/SouthSouth Summit for Peter Obi, to continue to conduct themselves well and to use the provided channels to inform us, promptly, of any threat or acts of intimidation from any quarters.

Signed,
Onwuasoanya FCC Jones

I will throw Peter Obi a big Party if he wins Three States – Atiku’s Spokesperson

Daniel Bwala the Spokesperson of Atiku Campaign said he will throw a big party if Peter Obi wins three states in 2023 election.

Bwala made this declaration while featuring on Channels TV Politics Today program on Thursday .
He made statement while reactng to the result of the online pre-test poll organised by ANAP Foundation.

The foundation had released the result of the online poll suggesting that Obi led the race with 21 percent while Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came second with 13 percent each.

Bwala said, “In a normal poll that will attract credibility, that will be a poll clearly in one breath as you release the poll, you must also release the sample size and the margin error.

The sample size and margin of error will identify whether the polling was actually carried out correctly or not. You can stretch further to ask for the sampling – was it done by a phone call? If it was done by phone call, then the people who didn’t phone probably were not part of the polling.

“You also go to the extent of asking for the demographic, and then the place where the polling was carried out.

This polling was carried out online. Because Peter Obi, online has a measure of people who are very active for him much more than the other candidates, and that is because there was algorithm and data analytics that was carried out that came up with the findings that 57.5 percent of people who follow Peter Obi and engage for him on social media do not live in Nigeria.”

In fact, majority of whom are bots on Twitter. They are not real human beings. If you take away 57.5 percent of the people who are acting for him, who probably live abroad and they don’t have voter cards and likely not to come to vote. What it means is that Peter Obi is basking in the euphoria of hallucination, and this polling is a true reflection of that.

“The interesting you can find out about the result is that if you look at, they said that there is a finding that from 46 years to 59 and 61 years and above are the most that said they are willing to vote. Meanwhile, Peter Obi’s movement said that he has the millennium of the young people, how do you juxtapose this?

“In the polling, they said older people are the ones that are showing excitement to vote, while in real life he is saying that his strength is drawn from the community of the young people.”

Bwala speaking on the how the votes will be generated, he said while other parties are trying to gain access into other regions outside their home regions, PDP is already there.

“If you look at the political parties, they all lean towards a particular geopolitical zone.

“For a candidate to become a president in Nigeria, that person must score the highest majority of the lawful vote cast and must have at least 25 percent of vote cast in 24 states of the federation.

“While NNPP is saying we are making e-roll into the East, PDP is saying we are already there. While Labour Party is saying we are trying to make e-roll into the North, PDP is saying we are already there. While NNPP is saying we are likely to have problem in the East because of Peter Obi, PDP is making the bold statement to say we are not only there but we are dominant there because, you can verify, there is no single stakeholder in the entire Southeast that is supporting Peter Obi.

“It is still the social media people, and that is why I said that this manipulative strategy reflected in the form of polling is to give Nigerians a false sense of belief that Peter Obi is active or stands a chance.”

Mocking Peter Obi , he said if he wins just three states he will throw the biggest party.

“Peter Obi, if he is able to win three states in Nigeria, I will throw the biggest party for him.”

Breaking : Soludo Will Mark 6 Months In Office In Grand Style

Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo will flag-off over sixty three kilometers of roads across the State this Saturday.

Governor Soludo dropped the hint during the commissioning ceremony of a 1.7 kilometer road, built by Chief Val Onwumelu in Umuoji, Idemili North Local Government Area.

Governor Soludo who was pleased with the community reaffirmed again that the best way to develop the state is through Public Community Private Partnership, (PCPP), not through government funding alone.

He emphasized that this is the kind of thing we should be mainstreaming in Anambra State, which every community should emulate

Speaking further, he recalled the Neni model which the Governor described as the Anambra spirit, explaining that when the people of Neni started it, Chief Tonimas of blessed memory took up the challenge and ended up tarring about 18 kilometers of road, with some other equally good spirited individuals joining with additional 6 kms of roads

“The Tonimas experience is an example. Umuoji and Anambra, if you know the much you can do, please do. We have come to celebrate that community spirit that distinguishes Anambra from the rest. I promised Ndi Anambra that there will be a difference, that I will account for the limited resources, to affect the poorest of the poor and downtrodden. We have entered ’ember’ months and Anambra will become a massive construction site. As for the Inland door road, we declare state of emergency on it. I’ve told the Commissioner for Works that this week, they must begin to mobilize there. Whatever is needed to mobilize, we will provide”.

The Governor in a related development also flagged off the rehabilitation of the popular Mmili John road, Ojoto, in Idemili South Local Government Area of the State

Speaking at the occasion, Governor Soludo said, “We have come to break a long standing jinx at the famous Mmili John where whenever it rains, the flood occupies the road, such that commuters can differentiate the river from
the road. The solution is here. We have come and the Mmili John problem will be done with.”

“The first time we came to Idemili was at Oba, to flag-off the building of the concentrated drug center. The next is this Mmili John. We were told that it may cut at any time. I thank Ojoto people for all they have done for themselves. I have said it many times that Anambra will develop through the PCPP model we are mainstreaming. The private capital will develop Anambra. That’s why we are mainstreaming and promoting the Neni model”. The Governor reiterated

Speaking on government street lights, Governor Soludo noted that the street light project is not sustainable because of the cost of diesel, explaining that his administration is gradually converting them back to solar, after which they will begin new ones within the availability of funds

The Commissioner for Works Engr. Ifeanyi Okoma said that the Umuoji road is 450 meters 2 spurs and well asphalted, explaining that to solve the issue in Mmili John road, the contractor will dredge 500 meters of the river, by the left and right sides, desilt the culvert and widen the river-flow. He equally affirmed that the contractor have assured that the project will be completed in six weeks time.

Tinubu has a Dose of Hospitality like Abacha and Commitment like Buhari- Shettima

Kashim Shettima, the vice-presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said the country needs a leader with “a dose of hospitality” like the former military head of state, Sani Abacha.

Speaking on Thursday at the 96th anniversary celebration of the Yoruba Tennis Club in Ikoyi, Lagos state, Shettima said Bola Tinubu, presidential candidate of the APC, is the only candidate that has the qualities that the country needs.

The vice-presidential candidate said Tinubu has a dose of hospitality that the late Sani Abacha, a former military ruler, had, and the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari to get things done.

“We are convinced that the general political situation in Nigeria needs the competencies of a detribalised and committed Nigerian like Tinubu to re-ignite the requisite values that can help us rededicate ourselves and all Nigerians to collectively tackle the challenges of national cohesion,” NAN quoted him as saying.

In 2023, we need a Nigerian leader that has the humility and generosity of spirit of the likes of general Yakubu Gowon. We need a leader that has abnegation and commitment of Muhammadu Buhari.

In 2023, we need a Nigerian leader that has the humility and generosity of spirit of the likes of general Yakubu Gowon. We need a leader that has abnegation and commitment of Muhammadu Buhari.

We need a leader that has the work ethic and broadmindedness of an Olusegun Obasanjo. We need a leader that has the situational pragmatism and understanding of Nigeria’s security, the maradonic skill of Ibrahim Babangida.

“We need a leader with a vision and sense of responsibility and commitment, and somebody who understands the national title of the nation of an Abdulsalami Abubakar, and in our systemic circumstances, we need a leader with a dose of the hospitality of a Sani Abacha.

“We need a leader with the intellectual acumen, with the action to catapult this nation to a higher pedestrian. We need a leader who is not bound by regional or religious sentiment.

We need a leader that has established such records of excellence and commitment to good governance. There is no one, with all due respect, that fits this better than Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

On his part, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, said Tinubu remains the most qualified candidate with the capacity to lead Nigeria.

INEC Reacts To Allegations Of Fraud In Electoral Register By CUPP

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has reacted to the allegations by the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP).

CUPP in a press conference on Wednesday, alleged that the just concluded Continuous Voters Registration was marred by irregularities, adding that the ruling All Progressives Congress padded the register with fake names.

The spokesman of the Coalition, Ikenga Ugochinyere Imo, further alleged that the Imo Governor added fictitious names and increased his ward to 46,000 voters.

But INEC in a statement by Festus Okoye Esq, National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, said the process of cleaning the Voter registration is ongoing assuring that the commission will deliver a free, fair, credible and inclusive election.

The statement reads:

The attention of the Commission has been drawn to a report of a press conference addressed by the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) on the Register of Voters for the 2023 general elections. The Commission recognizes and respects the right of citizens, either as individuals and groups, to demand explanation from public agencies, including INEC, and to hold them accountable.

However, it is always important that caution is exercised so that such interventions do not unwittingly sow doubts in the public mind, thereby diminishing public confidence and trust in the electoral process.

Nigerians would recall that on 3Ist July 2022, the Commission suspended the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) to commence supplemental activities that will culminate in the integration of new registrants into the final Register of Voters for the 2023 General Election.

lt is important to reiterate that no new registrant has yet been added to the Register of voters for the 2023 general Election or wil be included until these supplemental activities have been completed in line with the law.

For the avoidance of doubt, we restate the main components of these activities. First, the Commission is conducting a comprehensive Automated Biometric Identification System (ABIS) cleanup of the registration data by scrutinising every record. Based on the Electoral Act 2022, any record that does not meet all the criteria for inclusion as stipulated in section 10 including the appearance in person by the registrant at the registration venue with proof of identity, age and nationality and our business rules requirements of adequate number of fingerprints and clear pictures will be invalidated.

Further, in line with Section 19(1) of the Electoral Act 2022, after the ABIS and clean up, the Commission shall appoint a period of seven days during which the register will be published for scrutiny by the public for objections and complaints.

Finally, it is only after the cleanup and claims and objections have been completed that the final register wil be published.

The Commission will continue to provide the public with updates on the progress of these processes, as we did through our Press Release of 12 September 2022. The ABIS for the period of registration between 15th January and 31st July is being concluded presently, and the outcome in terms of multiple and ineligible records will be made public. For instance, in Oru East Local Government Area of lmo State, where the Commission allegedly registered ineligible persons, 3316 ineligible registrants have so far been invalidated and the process is still ongoing.

We appeal to the public to await the Commission’s display of the register for claims and objections to raise any concerns that they may have about the registration. We reiterate that our ABIS is robust and will detect practically all the ineligible records for removal.

Nigerians should be reassured of the Commission’s commitment to the credibility of the electoral process in Nigeria. We appeal for your support while we painstakingly deal with the clean up of the register and other process that will guarantee that the general election in 2023 is free, fair, credible and inclusive.

Soludo Awards Road Contracts

In keeping with Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s promise to provide good access roads in Anambra State, the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) recently approved the immediate rehabilitation and reconstruction of four roads in Onitsha.

This was disclosed by Sir Paul Nwosu, Commissioner for Information in a post ANSEC media briefing.

The roads include; Akpaka road, Akpaka to Nsugbe road, Federal Housing Estate link road and the spur to 33.

The four roads which are 7.79 kilometers in length will be handled by TEC Engineering Company Nigeria Limited at the cost of N2.53 billion and will be completed within 8 months.

Upon completion, the roads will eliminate the nightmarish traffic jams that commuters experience in that part of the city.

Sir Nwosu also stated that the government is deeply concerned with the increasing cases of youths’ invasion of lands with lawful titles belonging to people.

“They do this to extort huge amounts of money from the owners and in some cases resell the properties in question.

“This manner of extortion and intimidation will no longer be condoned by the Government. Community youth leaders are therefore charged to call their members to order as they would be made to answer for the offences by such errant youths in their communities”.

“Vandalization of electricity power cables have also become rampant lately and the State Government is calling on community leaders to guard and protect the power cables that pass through their domain from these vandals”.

The Commissioner said that communities where cables are removed or willfully damaged will be surcharged from their own share of the N25 million Community Choose-Your-Project which the government will commence soon.
