For taking this patriotic step, in the face of daunting personal discomfort, this generation of ndi Anambra, and indeed Anambra children yet unborn, would remember the name, Dr. Nkem Okeke, as one who rejected the accoutrements of high office and elected to align with the people.”

INEC Sensitisation for Media Executive Held Yesterday to Curb Fake News

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Wednesday, held a sensitization and interactive workshop with media Executives and Bloggers to curb the wide spread of fake news in the build up of the Anambra gubernatorial elections, in Awka, Anambra State.

The forum was declared opened and and anchored by Mrs, Chinwe Ogbuka, Assistant Director, New Media, after the arrival and registration of participants.

The opening remarks and the aims and objectives for the workshop was delivered by Mr, Victor Aluko, Director, Voter Education and Publicity –VEP.

He mentioned that meeting was an opportunity for the INEC to interact with journalists and the media as stakeholders in the build up of the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in Anambra State. He emphasized that the meeting was not a press conference but a get together to share ideas on how to create a conducive voting environment for the election.

Moving on, the Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Nkwachukwu Orji, represented by Chief China Duruaku, recounted how important and powerful information is, and the need to use it properly. He stated that the program was not one of those rituals or ceremonies that comes with elections, but a multi-stakeholder undertaken.

According to him, “Election is not an event but a process. It is my convictions that the conduct of elections is a multi-stakeholder undertaken, it is not an INEC undertaken alone. In the INEC public, the media is an important part of that public”.

He stressed that the INEC had made remarkable progress in preparation for the Anambra gubernatorial election. One of which is the voter expansion access project particularly in Anambra State; from 1112 polling units to 5720 polling units, to allow for easy access to the 2,525,471 registered voters in Anambra State.

During the question/interactive session, he charged media organizations as the gatekeeper of the fourth realm and stakeholders, to utterly shun yellow journalism and fake news, verify news items before releasing to the public, hold trainings for staff, and sanction staff who have penchants for share and spread fake news.

He also reiterated the INEC’s readiness and preparations for the November 6th Anambra State election which is in less than a month time.

Defection of Nkem Okeke of No Consequence- APGA

DEFECTION OF NKEM OKEKE OF NO CONSEQUENCE – APGA

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has described the defection of the deputy governor of Anambra State, Dr. Nkem Okeke to APC as of no consequence.

A press statement in Abuja today signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Barrister Tex Okechukwu, said that the defection of the deputy was long expected since he had been grudging everybody over his inability to secure the governorship ticket of the party for the November election.

“The deputy governor had thought that the governor and the party were going to hand over the governorship ticket of the party in the last primary to him on a platter. When that didn’t happen he started behaving abnormally, even to the point of insubordination and dereliction of duties”, the statement buttressed.

It viewed the exit of the deputy governor, without formal notification to the party or his principal, as uncalled for, ill-timed and ill-advised as the governor had always treated him with respect, love and consideration.

The party frowned at the desperation being exhibited by the opposition APC in the build-up to the November 6 Anambra State Governorship Election, calling on all members of the party to remain united to ensure that APGA won the election with wider margins.

The statement continued,”Let nobody be deceived:APC has no root anywhere in Anambra State and that is why all that they do is going about luring political deadwood with money and other lucres”.

It called on Governor Willie Obiano not to be distracted by the defection of his deputy, which it described as
“a ploy to create a semblance of disunity in his government”, but to remain resolute in delivering the dividends of democracy to his people.
“No matter the designs of the opposition and other subterranean forces, APGA
Is poised to win the forthcoming election and continue with the massive infrastructural development going on in the state”, the statement concluded.

National Publicity Secretary, APGA

Breaking News: APGA /Soludo Wins At Supreme Court

The road is now cleared for Prof Chukwuma Soludo to emerge  as the next Governor of Anambra State . Supreme Court affirms Soludo as APGA’s Anambra guber candidate, Oye as National Chairman

After over two hours of fierce legal fireworks by lawyers, the Supreme Court on Thursday in Abuja affirmed former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo as the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, in the November 6, 2021, election in Anambra State.

The apex court also returned Chief Victor Oye as the National Chairman of the party.

In a judgment of a five-man panel of justices of the court, the appeal filed by one Jude Okeke was dismissed on the ground of being an abuse of court process.

Justice Mary Peter Odili, who delivered the lead judgment, awarded a sum of N1 million to be paid by Jude Okeke to APGA and Victor Oye.

Justice Odili upheld the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Kano Division, which had earlier dismissed Okeke’s suit.

Anambra 21: RE: Soludo Again! Declares That Anambra is a Catholic State.

Our attention has been drawn to the above false article concocted by the opposition, wherein they alleged that Soludo “declares Anambra a Catholic State”.

1). Prof Chukwuma Soludo was not in any such meeting with the Catholic Youth Organisations of Nigeria (CYON). Those who claim otherwise should furnish ndi Anambra with necessary evidence.

2). Again, we must restate that in all of Soludo’s engagements with the Clergy and members of religious organisations, he has centred discussions around his planned policies and programmes.

3). It is on record that Soludo is the only Candidate who has consulted with all Christian denominations in the State, and has sold his agenda to them.

4). A month ago, he was with the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria ( PFN) on their “2021 Prayer Rally” to pray for Anambra State. And just last Saturday, he was at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Igboezunu Aguleri to honour the invitation of His Lordship, the Rt. Reverend Paul Udogu (Bishop of Afikpo Diocese) who turned 50.

5). Recall, that at the Church service, the Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of the Anglican Church, His Grace, the Most Rev’d Henry Chukwudum Ndukuba, led other Bishops of the Church — Serving and Retired — on a dedicated prayer Session for Prof. Soludo. For a Man who enjoyed this rare privilege that has ostensibly ruffled the opposition, anything can be said to malign him.

6). Soludo’s immediate younger brother— Pastor (Dr) Ogochukwu Soludo is a pastor and GO of his own church.

7). SOLUDO is known for his public stance on ecumenism— the unity of the Christian church. As CBN Governor, he was the Secretary of fundraising committee for building the National Ecumenical Centre, Abuja. Indeed, there’s no other candidate who preaches the unity of the church of God.

8). He insists that the challenge of building a livable and prosperous state has nothing to do with one’s religious denomination. He keeps asking whether there’s a Catholic, or Anglican or Pentecostal way of tarring a road or teaching mathematics or guaranteeing 24 hours electricity etc.

9). Soludo’s record of public service shows that he cares about excellence irrespective of where you come from or how you worship. No wonder he is the only candidate endorsed by all denominations of the Christian church.

10). This has riled the opposition especially the one who wants the election to be about denominations because he has nothing to offer Ndi Anambra. They have therefore resorted to fabricating fake news but they have failed as Ndi Anambra can’t wait to experience the SOLUDO Solution.

11). Again, Soludo is a strong believer in Christian unity (Ecumenism), and his family accommodates all shades of Christian faith as exemplified by his younger brother who is an ordained Pastor in a Pentecostal church.

12). Soludo would, therefore, not for any reason speak vile of any sect of the body of Christ.

We urge our supporters to dismiss the evil propaganda of the opposition being peddled around by one Cyril Nwokafor — a faceless hatchet writer.

May God continue to expose the true enemies of the Church as we remain united as one in the body of Christ Jesus!

Subsequently, the speaker, directed the Clerk, Mr Pius Udo, to transmit a clean copy of the bill to Gov. Willie Obiano, for assent.

The Bill when eventually signed into law would prevent the destruction of crop farms, community ponds, settlements and properties.

It will also optimise the use of land resources in the face of overstretched land and increasing population.

The House also considered and approved the report on the 2022 -2024 multi-year budget framework presented by the House Committee Chairman on Finance and Appropriation, Mr Obinna Emeneka.
