The Federal High court Abuja has Ordered Ebonyi state Governor Dave Umahi and his deputy, Eric Igwe, to vacate their seats as the sitting governor and deputy on grounds that the PDP won the election on March 2019 and not its candidate.

Having defected to the APC governor David Umahi And his Deputy Eric Igwe cannot transfer the mandate of the PDP to the APC.

Citing section 221 of the constitution, Justice Inyang Ekwo ordered the PDP immediately send names of replacements to INEC so as to conduct fresh elections.

Justice Ekwo also ordered INEC to seize from recognizing David Umahi and Eric Igwe as the Governor and deputy of the Ebonyi State.

The judge also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to receive names of candidates from the PDP to replace Messrs Umahi and Igwe.

The votes in any election in Nigeria are to political parties, and not candidates,” the judge held.
