Delta Police Arrest Four Gunrunners Linked to Pistol Found on Slain Artiste Oghenemine Ogidi

ASABA, June 8, 2026 — The Delta State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a gunrunning syndicate connected to the Beretta pistol recovered after the extrajudicial killing of upcoming artiste Oghenemine Ogidi in Effurun.

What Happened
Commissioner of Police Yemi Oyeniyi confirmed in a press briefing Monday that operatives arrested Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Clifford Boleyelefa, Amadi Princewill, and Amadi Felix Chibuike in Bayelsa and Imo States following “painstaking investigation and intelligence-led operations.”

The Gun Trail
May 1, 2026: Police recovered a Beretta pistol with four rounds of ammunition at a park in Effurun, Uvwie LGA.
May 4: Emmanuel Chukwuemeka was arrested in Bayelsa with his roommate, whose phone was used to arrange the deal. Chukwuemeka confessed he bought the gun from Amadi Princewill for ₦290,000 and sold it to a man named Desmond for ₦380,000.
Desmond, still at large, waybilled the gun to Effurun and contacted Oghenemine Ogidi to collect it and send to Sapele.
May 15: Amadi Princewill was tracked and arrested in Imo State. He told police he bought the weapon from Amadi Felix Chibuike for ₦200,000.
May 16: Amadi Felix Chibuike was arrested in Owerri, Imo State.

Context: Ogidi’s Death
Oghenemine Ogidi was killed on April 26, 2026, by ASP Nuhu Usman of the Effurun Area Command. Police said Usman discharged his firearm in “clear violation of Force Order 237 and the Standard Operating Procedure,” leading to Ogidi’s death. Usman has been arrested and transferred to Abuja to face the Force Disciplinary Committee. The Inspector-General of Police confirmed a “zero-tolerance stance on extra-judicial actions.”

Police Statement
CP Oyeniyi said all four suspects are members of the Black Axe confraternity. They will be charged to court upon completion of investigation. The manhunt for Desmond and other fleeing syndicate members is ongoing.
