Just In: Killers of LP Candidate Oyibo Chukwu Revealed

A Former member of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Chief Lucky Chukwu, has revealed how his elder brother, Oyibo Chukwu, who was contesting under the Labour Party to represent the Enugu East senatorial zone in the 2023 elections, was killed by unknown gunmen just few days to the presidential and national assembly elections.

Recall that Mr Oyibo Chukwu was gruesomely murdered alongside his personal assistant on February 22nd while he was finalising his campaign activities and returning from Amuri, Enugu State. He was reportedly burnt to death by his killers in the Sienna he used for his campaign.

Meanwhile, speaking to Saturday Punch, Mr Oyibo’s younger brother, Chief Lucky who expressed shock about the whole incident, claimed that they were well aware of the killers of their brother, debunking the insinuations that his brother was killed by members of the IPOB. Chief Lucky went on to call out names of some persons who should have sympathised with them but didn’t even after Peter Obi paid a condolence visit to them.

He said, “Even my elder brother had sympathy for IPOB because he was their lawyer in Enugu State when some of them were detained. So, that theory is off the track. We know who killed our brother. I said it the day Peter Obi came to my country home on a condolence visit that one would have expected Chief Jim Nwobodo to issue a statement condemning what happened, the same as Chief Ken Nnamani, as a former President of the Senate; and lastly, the governor who is the chief security officer of the state, but they have not issued a statement condemning the brutal killing of my brother.”

Chief Lucky also expressed optimism that the Labour Party will win the election because of the price Oyibo paid.
