PERSONAL ENCOUNTER WITH GOD

I was at the Sunday mass two days ago somewhere in Enugu. The Church was one of the elitist Churches where you would be forced to believe that everybody was comfortable.

The gospel was well delivered .The Choir was at their best singing like angels from Heaven.Church members including myself and my young family were all putting up smiling faces .The youths – ladies and gentlemen were gorgeously dressed with ladies on their high heels.

As I seated one corner with my family,I sensed the presence of God,my heart was filled with joy. I could feel the fire of Holy Ghost burning inside me.Momentarily ,I forgot my sorrow.I forgot that outside the Church premises, comes the reality of life that I have to buy fuel at N143 for my car and my Gen set. That my income is shrinking with increased bills. That I should continue to agitate that my people be liberated from Nigeria.

Yes,there is always a reality to face but inside the church,we live by the Grace of God.How would anybody explain to those young girls and boys I saw inside Church that Nigeria has no single plans for them. Many of them have got to the age of marriage but alas,no money ,no job. Many have graduated but could not find any place to work.It is either you know one senator,Hon Member or you are related to the Vice Chancellor,Provost or Governor. No new jobs is being created.Public institutions and infrastructures have all collapsed .The federal high road is a dead trap yet millions are inside their various houses jobless .One old man is the minister for works, housing and works.Millions of young people sleep and wake up with zero income at the end of the month.

Worst still, those at the government offices earn income for doing nothing ,perhaps moving files from one table to the other.Politicians are the worst. There is no certificate requirement to go with the name ‘ Politician’ These are the class that earn so much ,unfortunately do not add anything to the Country’s GDP. Looking around, you would have seen 5 mobile policemen following one Hon Member of House of Rep.Did I hear somebody say ‘ Dishon’ .Well, that is for another day.

My attention was drawn to the Church services again. Why wouldn’t these organized clergymen take over the Government! If they can organize the Church service in service to humanity,I guess they can do better in government business. How do we build Church structures? Donation and tilt.Like the Sharia Govt ,the Church can begin to implement the teachings of Christ inside Government. As I was about posting this, somebody tapped me to remind me that Politicians are better than Church Leaders.Again, this discussion is for another day.

Before the service ended ,I resolved to write this piece and to start mounting pressure on the Church Leaders.Let nobody advice me not to judge the ordained men of God.Brothers, these men of God have great influence upon our lives.Any day we can convince them to use their anointing power upon Biafra project, that day I will dance to the lord.

I want to appreciate men of God in this Biafra community and to encourage them to spread the gospel of freedom alongside the message of God.I want to recognize the presence of Bishop Okechukwu from Delta State here.He is a true man of God with special call to serve humanity. He is a Biafran. We expect more men of God to take over this struggle as our people have suffered enough and deserve to live like human.

Biafra agitation is nonsense -Clark

ELDER statesman Edwin Clark yesterday condemned the Biafra agitation led by Nnamdi Kanu.

Clark spoke yesterday when the Chairman, Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debt, Senator Shehu Sani, visited him in Abuja.

He also condemned the quit notice by the Arewa Group to the Igbo living in the North, saying it was worrisome.

He warned that secession or agitation was not the way to go on restructuring the country, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

He said: “When Kanu talks about Biafra, he is talking nonsense. We do not want a second war.

“America fought their civil war for a long time and they are not thinking of a second one. Kanu should drop the agitation.

“At the same time, it is arrogant and foolish on the part of some Northern youths to issue quit notice. You do not own the North. It is part of Nigeria and anybody can live there.

“The Igbo have been living in the North for over 100 years.”

The elder statesman emphasised the need for restructuring for equity and balance in the country.

He explained that though the call for restructuring had been loud in recent times, the country had been undergoing restructuring.

“In 1947, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe said the Richard Constitution was obnoxious; that it was anti-people. In 1950, we had the Macpherson Constitution, which created the three regions and in 1963, we had another constitution.

“During all these constitutions, the issue of the fiscal federation was very prominent. So, we have been restructuring this country and nobody talked about breaking up the country.

“The war between 1967 and 1970 was an unfortunate one.”

Clark said making necessary changes to allow for social justice was the way to go and urged the National Assembly to re-visit the issue of devolution of power upon resumption from recess, saying it was one of the ways to properly restructure the country.

According to him, the vote against devolution of power by the national assembly was borne out of the fear that it would whittle down the powers of legislators.

“We have reached a stage where states are not paying salaries and something has to be done to gear their minds to see what they can do in their own area to generate money.

“I am happy you believe in restructuring, which can be achieved within a short time but it may take up to 20 years if we do not agree among ourselves.

“So, once more I want to say that when you resume, the issue of devolution of power should be re-visited so that Federal Government will deal with foreign affairs, prisons, customs and a few other things.

On call to return to regionalism, Clark said “you cannot abolish the states now and say you want six regions. It is not going to be easy or possible now.

“I feel we should use the same states as federating units and the local governments should remain with the states.”

He called for the establishment of Revenue Mobilisation Commission to deal with funds that move between states and local governments to sustain them.

Clerk promised to convene a meeting of elder statesmen across the country to find a lasting solution to the problem of restructuring.

Sani said one of the reasons the devolution of power did not scale through in the National Assembly was the fear that state governments might abuse their powers.

He said: “The problem we have with the devolution of power is how to tackle some of the problems that come with it.

“For example, the present crop of governors might not be able to handle state police in a manner that people who disagree with them can be safe.

“Secondly, the manner in which elections are conducted by state independent electoral commissions where the ruling party in the state wins all positions is worrisome.

“So, if we devolve the police, we have to allay the fears of people on the implications. Those who are championing some of these issues need to make clarifications.”

On derivation and resource control, the lawmaker said it was in the best interest of the country to stop thinking about oil because it was becoming non-attractive globally.

Sani described the quit notice as “embarrassing”.

Obiano, APC candidate, Nwoye, disagree over November gov poll

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State and the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the November 18 poll in the state, Dr. Tony Nwoye, have disagreed on the performance of the governor and their chances at the poll.

Nwoye described the tenure of the incumbent governor as an unmitigated disaster.

The 43-year-old medical doctor, who defeated Senator Andy Uba, Chief George Moghalu and others in the APC’s primary election to pick the ticket of the party, said Obiano had impoverished the people of the state.

Nwoye, who spoke to journalists shortly after a meeting with the  APC  executive members in the state, believed that Obiano  had betrayed the confidence  reposed in him by the people of the state who voted for him in the 2013 election.

He stated that it was painful that most families in the state could hardly afford a meal daily.

But Obiano said Nwoye did not possess the competence to be a local government chairman let alone ruling a state as Anambra.

Speaking through his media aide, Oliver Okpala, Obiano described himself as a tested and trusted technocrat who reached the apex of his career as an accountant in one of the best banks in the country.

Obiano added, “They are talking of change. What are they coming to change? Are they coming to change the payment of civil servants that is done on or before the 25th of every month or the face of Awka that looks like Dubai? What are they coming in to do?”

STOP MISLEADING THE PUBLIC, MOBIN BLASTS VANGUARD NEWSPAPERS

The Movement of Biafrans In Nigeria (MOBIN) have reacted to a news headline in Vanguard News website yesterday, which claimed that MOBIN has thrown its weight behind Chief Osita Chidoka, the guber candidate of the United Progressive Party in Anambra State describing the news headline as media terrorism aimed at destroying the image of MOBIN
MOBIN in a press statement signed by her Director of Media and Mobilization, ThankGod Ofoelue frowned at the deceptive headline which meant that MOBIN have reneged on its withdrawal of support for the party which is tantamount to betraying Biafrans.
MOBIN maintains that it cannot work with the UPP and her National Leadership, since the party does not in any way represent the yearnings of Biafrans.
MOBIN also described as unfortunate, the emergence of Chidoka under the party through a notorious process ever witnessed by mankind.
The statement read in parts; “Vanguard Newspapers yesterday threw into public space a story claiming that MOBIN has reneged its stance against the UPP by supporting Chief Osita Chidoka. That is not true. We issued a statement where we stated that MOBIN would have supported any candidate that emerged had the process been free and fair.
“MOBIN has made her position known to the public and that position is the will of Biafrans. The UPP manipulated the delegates list used for the primaries and tried  intimidating MOBIN to accept the charade  that led to the death of one of us.
At that primaries, no MOBIN delegate was allowed to vote. This was against our agreement with the party. It was so bad that the Coordinator of MOBIN in Anambra state was also disenfranchised by the UPP.
UPP will kill more Biafrans if we work with them”, the statement read.
MOBIN therefore calls on Biafrans and her members to disregard the reckless headline from Vanguard newspaper as the Leadership of MOBIN will never go against the collective decision of Biafrans to leave the corruption infested UPP.

My son not dead, he’s hale, hearty – Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has said his first son, Mr Ahamefula Okorocha, is alive, strong and healthy, contrary to rumours on the social media of his death in London.

Okorocha who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Sam Onwuemeodo, said those behind the false report of the death of his son were agents of Satan.

Okorocha said contrary to the death wish of some “evil elements”, the young engineer was doing very well in his profession.

“How could anybody ever wish his fellow human death; this is strange and we all must discourage this kind of insinuation.

The governor added that he traveled oversea earlier this year for a business trip after announcing plans to relocate Ekeukwu Owerri market and it was rumoured that he had died.

He added that two weeks after the relocation of the market, the same rumour equally emanated that his son was dead.

“God is the giver of life and nobody can determine how God does his things,” he said.

He advises the should disregard the false report. (NAN)

Anambra Gov Poll: Court asked to restrain Kanu, IPOB

ABUJA – An Anambra based business man, Dr. Richard Ndubuaku, has dragged the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu before the Federal High Court in Abuja.

The plaintiff, in his suit marked FHC/ABJ/ CS/756/2017, applied for an order of injunction restraining Kanu and the IPOB from disrupting the governorship and House of Assembly elections billed to hold in Anambra State on November 18.

Ndubuaku told the court that he is a businessman in Awka with property in Onisha and other parts of Anambra State. He said there was urgent need for the court to restrain Kanu, IPOB, their agents and members from making utterances or taking actions capable of jeopardising the conduct of election in the state. According to the plaintiff, unless they are stopped, Kanu and his IPOB followers could carry out their threat to disrupt the planned poll. Ndubuaku maintained that allowing the defendants to proceed with their threat could result in irreparable damages to him and other innocent citizen of Anambra State.

In an affidavit he deposed to support the suit, the plaintiff told the court that Kanu and other IPOB members have repeatedly made utterances and threats to stop any form of election in Anambra State and Igbo land. “The defendants (1st and 2nd) are capable of carrying out their threat, and if this happens, many lives will be lost. And properties destroyed, which will include that of the plaintiff. “If the defendants are not restrained, it may lead to confrontation. With other law abiding citizens, who insist on electing their governor and a clash with the defendants will occasion bloodbath as there would be total breakdown of law and order,”

Ndubuaku averred. Besides, he prayed the court for an order restraining Kanu and IPOB from further harassing or intimidating eligible voters in Anambra State or mobilising their members to scuttle the planned election. Equally cited as defendants in the suit were the Inspector General of Police, the Commandant General Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.

Meanwhile, when the matter came up for hearing on Tuesday, Justice Babatunde Quadri who is sitting as the vacation Judge, declined to issue ex-parte order as he was prayed to do by the plaintiff. Rather, Justice Quadri directed counsel to the plaintiff, Mr. Smart Iheazor to go and put all the defendants on notice by serving them with copies of all the relevant court process.

MOBIN Press Release

Our attention has been drawn to a release credited to Mr Ben Obide, where he has denied membership of the Movement of Biafrans in Nigeria (MOBIN).

In the same statement, Obide has also claimed that he was nominated into the United Progressive Party Anambra State Working Committee under the Bilie Human Rights Initiative. He also affirmed support for guber aspirant, Chief Osita Chidoka, while denouncing MOBIN’S pulling out of the UPP.

For clarity sake, let it be known to the General Public that Mr Ben Obide was nominated to represent MOBIN in the Anambra State UPP Working Committee according to the terms of agreement reached with the National Leadership of the party to work with Biafrans.

Let it also be on record that Obide was not nominated on the platform of the BHRI because BHRI is the human rights wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) It’s members are not supposed to play politics, except under MOBIN, which is the political arm of the struggle.

He however, has a right to remain in the UPP based on personal conviction, but he need not lie about it to remain politically correct.

Also be aware that MOBIN has no representation in UPP at the moment since the pullout is total.

For the avoidance of doubt, be aware that MOBIN pulled out of UPP because of the many shady deals which Biafrans refuse to identify with. MOBIN has nothing against the person of Chief Osita Chidoka and would readily support him in his quest for Anambra governorship, but the UPP is a corrupt party, and remaining in it while agitating for Biafra will be tantamount to jumping from frying pan to fire.

MOBIN wishes to reassure Biafrans that the political process has been activated and there is no going back on the political option.

Once again, we encourage Biafrans to be calm while discussions are still on top gear and the right alternative will be unveiled in no distant time.

Signed,

ThankGod Ofoelue,

Director of Media and Mobilization,
MOBIN.

FEHN to train IPOB, Arewa, OPC, members on ethic harmony

The Foundation for Ethnic Harmony in Nigeria (FEHN) has concluded plans to train 45 members of Oodua People Congress (OPC), Arewa Youths and Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on ethnic harmony and how to entrench peace and unity in Nigeria.

This was disclosed by the Chairman, the Foundation for Ethnic Harmony in Nigeria (FEHN),Mr. Allen Onyema who said that the trainers who specialise in conflict resolution would come from the United States of America (USA) to organize the training and after the training in Nigeria the beneficiaries would also be taken overseas for further training at FEHN’s expense.

He said that the objective of the training is to make the beneficiaries to eschew all those things that create division among ethnic nationalities and to see and help to build Nigeria as one, united entity and also help to galvanise their members to unite and campaign for one united Nigeria.
Onyema said that the Foundation was at the forefront in promoting peace and unity in Nigeria during the Niger Delta militancy, which contributed immensely in quenching the crisis in that part of the country.

Said Onyema, “we are training 45 youths from OPC, Arewa and IPOB. This is our effort to ensure that Nigeria remains one united country because we are better off living together and if any part of this country splits, it can never rise to any level compared to if all Nigerians are living together because this country is a great country, which we must work hard to sustain.”

“I think what most people are against is perceived injustice or imbalance but the most beautiful thing is that most people want one, big Nigeria than a fragmented Nigeria,” Onyema added.

Onyema said he hopes to see the end of the present crisis and said FEHN would do everything possible to end the various ethnic and tribal crisis and agitation in the country.

“If I tell myself there is no tension, it will be a lie. But we all must be positive about it. One thing I want to say to my fellow Nigerians is that conflict is part of life. Conflict can become a catalyst for positive change; it depends on the kind of approach or response you give to issues of conflict. If you give the right approach to issues of conflict it becomes a catalyst for positive change. However, if you give the wrong response to issues of conflict it becomes an avenue for catastrophe. So we should make the present conflict as catalyst for positive change,” Onyema said,
The FEHN Chairman, who is also the Chairman of Air Peace, said that the training of these youths would be part of his contribution to the quest for unity and ethnic harmony in Nigeria.

“Everybody must not be a political leader to contribute to the development of the country. Recently I wrote to the state security service and I told them to please give me permission to engage the Arewa Youths and IPOB. That I believe from my position of expertise in conflict management, that I could handle these people. I know that we can make them come together and embrace peace and that I what we are working on now, which I know we will realize to strengthen the unity of Nigeria,” he added.
