Unizik Lectures Protest Over 4 years unpaid Salaries

The staff of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Unizik, Awka, Anambra state who for 3-4 years (2019-2023) have not been payrolled into the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS earlier today had a peaceful protest within the school premises to further make their excruciating pains known to the school management and the Federal Government.

Unizik Unpaid staff of 3-4 years groan in excruciating pain during protest.

Addressing them during the Protest, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Admin, Prof. Joseph Ifeanyichukwu Ikechebelu empathized with the depressed/Uncaptured staff who couldn’t hold back their tears in agony. According to Prof. Ikechebelu, the University management is very much aware of the precarious situations of the Unpaid staff and they are working round the clock to ensure they are all captured into IPPIS.

Although, his explanations were more of the regular statements they have been hearing for the past 4years without any meaningful outcome, according to some of the protesters.

Reacting to what he said, some of the Unpaid staff who spoke to us narrated their ordeal below :

we can’t continue like this, both the school management and the Federal Government(IPPIS) ain’t so open to what’s actually happening. Painfully enough, so many new staff are still being employed till date and captured whilst there are so many staff yet to be enrolled. ”

Speaking further, they made an open allegations that unless you know a Senator or highly placed individuals, you may not be captured as most of their colleagues who had been captured into to IPPIS were all recommended. Unless you get a written notice from the VC, no one would enroll you even if you travel to Abuja for capturing.

As a group, they seek the speedy intervention of the Law makers and Federal Government before most of them die of depression.

You’d recall that Prof. Oby Orogbu, Member representing Awka North/South at the green chambers took the Pain of IPPIS Uncaptured staff of Unizik to National Assembly during her submissions at the Plenary session, she seeked for the escalation of the issue.
