Eagles players as a bunch of Euro based bench warmers who the Foxes can easily handle in friday’s Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier in Constantine
While Madjer has little or no respect for the World Cup bound Nigerian national team, the Franco German coach of Eagles, Gernot Rohr said Algeria is blessed with some of Africa’s best legs.
Speaking to the press in Algeria, Madjer who was not in charge of the team when they suffered a 3-1 loss to Nigeria in the reverse tie played in Uyo said the Nigerian team has many players who don’t get to play for their European clubs.
“I have studied the Nigerian team, apart from Iwobi, every other player is mostly a substitute for their team in Europe , but that doesn’t mean they will not be at the level to face us,” Madjer said.
“The game against Nigeria is not a friendly match for me, to me it’s the first game of the qualifiers for the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon”.
Meanwhile, Gernot Rohr has described Leicester City duo of Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani as some of the best players in Africa, adding that their presence in the Desert Foxes squad will make an appreciable impact. “I know this team, they have one of the best African players… Mahrez, Slimani is the other one. It will be interesting to play in Algeria in these conditions,’’ Rohr said to the Nigeria Football Federation.“They have a new coach (Raber Madjer) and they are playing at home so they will be very aggressive.”
The price good men and women pay for not being in politics, is to be governed by those they are better than.
“The worst illiterate is the political illiterate. He hears nothing, sees nothing, take no part in political life.
He does not seem to know that the cost of living, the price of beans, of flour, of house rent, of medicine all depend on political decisions.
He even prides himself on his political ignorance, sticks out his chest and says he hates politics.
He does not know, the imbecile, that from his political non-participation comes the prostitute, and the abandoned child, the robber and worst of all, corrupt officials, the lackeys of exploitative multinational corporations ‘’ Bertolt Brecht
Tell me why we should abandon the most important aspect of our life to visionless class of people that call themselves ‘Politicians’. Today in Nigeria ,the Political Class has made us hopeless, frustrated , less human, beggars without access to bank loan at single digit,no access to free medicare,no access to quality education,no access to electricity,no access to water,no access to food.no access to shelter and no access to anything that would make life meaningful.Go to the street and ask young people this question: What has Government done for you? You will be shocked that many young people have not felt the existence of government and what to expect from those in power.Since after the civil war, majority of Nigerian soldiers that fought against Biafrans regretted their actions as Nigeria government has never treated them like human except few top ranking Officers. The masses have lost confidence with anything Government and have decided to embrace God for survival Hence, the widespread of Churches everywhere ,whereas factories are shutting down by the day. However, the end solution lies in all of us getting involved in party politics and general election.Self Determination is a political process, however ,we must begin now to make our life better.
All of us must get involved in politics for the sake of our Children.
With Secret Service agents in tow, Barack Obama reported Wednesday to a courthouse in Chicago after being summoned for jury duty – but the former president was not chosen to serve. Obama arrived at the justice centre in Chicago by motorcade, according to several US media reports that showed him entering the building and being greeted by people at the courthouse.
Cook County Chief Judge Timothy Evans told reporters shortly after Obama arrived that he was not tapped to serve on a jury and was dismissed for the day, according to the Chicago Tribune. Obama was one of 168 people who showed up for jury duty at the justice centre on Wednesday. They were assigned to 16 panels before eight of those panels, including the one Obama was assigned to, randomly selected to be sent home, a spokesman for the chief judge told the Tribune.
Theoretically, every US citizen over the age of 18 could be called for jury duty. The former president, 56, lives in Washington but maintains a home in Chicago, which is why his name came up for jury duty there. A jury duty summons is usually sent in the post and requires the recipient to report on the designated day or face consequences such as a fine.
The first step of the process usually narrows the pool by disqualifying people who might not be able to serve the entire length of a trial or who might have other schedule limitations.
The actual selection process typically includes interviews by lawyers for both sides in order to exclude people who might be biased. With a degree from Harvard Law School and his time teaching law, not to mention eight years as president, Obama certainly has legal experience. But most lawyers reject well-known people on juries out of concern that they create a distraction. Obama is not the first former president to be called for jury duty.
George W Bush was summoned in his home state of Texas in 2015, but was not selected. The presiding judge said it was not because of his fame, but because a jury had already been seated.
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday in Abuja presented about N8.612 trillion as the 2018 Appropriation bill to a joint session of the National Assembly, saying the projected expenditure would drive rapid economic recovery.
He said at the session that with a benchmark of 45 dollars per barrel at an exchange rate of N305 to a dollar in 2018, the budget would consolidate on the achievements of previous budgets to aggressively steer the economy to the path of steady growth.
However, former Director of New Media for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Convener, Concerned Nigerians, Prince Deji Adeyanju has described as illogical the budget presented as the 2018 Appropriation bill, saying there are no projects to show that previous budgets were implemented.
How can president Buhari present an N8.6trillion budget for 2018 when he can’t account for over N11trilion from 2016 & 2017?

ABUJA — Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of Nigeria Supreme Council on Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, yesterday warned against any injustice in appointments and allocation of resources in the country, saying such actions are capable of breeding crisis and disunity in the society.
This is even as President of Christian Association of Nigerian, CAN, Reverend Sampson Ayokunle, said marginalization is one major issue forcing some people of the Eastern extraction, under the aegis of Biafra, to seek separation from the Nigerian federation and asked the government to address their grievances. He also insisted that Biafrans are not terrorists but people who want to be heard over marginalization they were facing.
The declarations of the Sultan and the CAN leader drew support from Yoruba socio-cultural and political organization, Afenifere, and Second Republic lawmaker, Dr. Junaid Mohammed, who noted that the duo captured in essence what is currently going on in the country The Sultan and the CAN President spoke in their goodwill messages delivered at the opening ceremony of a Collaborative Interfaith Peace and Security Capacity Building Workshop, organized by the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, NARC, in collaboration with Inter-Religious Peace Initiative in Abuja. Let there be justice, equitable resources distribution Represented by the Executive Secretary of Abuja National Mosque, Alhaji Ibrahim Jega, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III said inclusive governance from leaderships at all levels alone is capable of ending the many problems facing the country at the moment, and tasked those at the helm of affairs to rise and do the needful.
He tasked leadership at all levels to be equitable, fair and just to every member of the society in the distribution of amenities and resources, irrespective of the political, religious and tribal inclinations of members of the society. “When it comes to issue of dispensation of justice and equitable distribution of resources, that should be done without fear or favour, affection or ill will. “You are not there yourself as a leader and because you have some encounters with a group of people, either a person or a group of persons in a particular area, you should not hold on to it so as not to extend justice to them. “Allah says “do not allow your hatred of a particular group of people to make you decide not to extend justice to them.
Whatever happens, you must extend the spirit of justice to them all without fear or favour, affection or ill-will. “This issue of justice goes down to whatever decision you are going to take, whether it’s against you or against your parents or against your own children or against your other relations, let alone saying you will not extend justice because you know somebody or because he is from your town. Justice must be based on fair and equitable distribution of assets to all,” Sultan Abubakar said.
Corruption behind insecurity, poor education He also noted that corruption was the reason behind the nation’s weak security system and the threats of insurgency, coupled with lack of teaching materials in schools and the dilapidated state of the nation’s health care system. While noting that religious leaders are in support of the current administration’s fight against corruption, the Sultan said extremism and violence are not part of Islam, stating that anyone that kills a fellow citizen in the name of any religion should be treated as a criminal.
The Sultan condemned the killings by any group as un-Islamic, noting that herdsmen clashes with local farmers in some states should, therefore, not be taken as having religious cover. He lauded the efforts of the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, NARC, for coming up with the workshop, saying it would assist in fostering peace building and engender understanding among the people, and added that the country needs peace and unity to achieve even development and progress. Biafrans not terrorists, but want to be heard — CAN President On his part, President of CAN, represented by Apostle Nyeneime Andy, General Overseer of Holy Ghost Ambassadors Church, said: “The Biafra people are going through a lot, not because they want to be violent, but because they want to be heard. “One of the things they want to tell Nigerians is that the Biafrans are not a terrorist group.
The people want to talk to Nigerians about a general issue that they do not want to be marginalized. “ CAN is not in support of what Biafra agitators are doing, CAN is also not in support of killing and disobedience. Just like herdsmen, so many people take action just on their own without the consent of the state. “Today, we are coming together to talk about how Nigeria could be better because there’s no other way for Nigeria to be better than to talk about unity. ‘Why Army is holding workshop’ Also speaking, the Acting Director-General of NARC, Brigadier-General Okechukwu Ugo, said the workshop was necessitated by the need to expose participants to the positive roles religion could play in peace building and encourage the culture of religious tolerance, mutual understanding and trust among the people.
He expressed regret that the “continued manipulation of Nigeria’s religious diversity has further polarized the nation, endangering her unity, stability and development. ‘’This situation has also increased the potential of sectarian violence and escalation of interfaith tensions, thereby making religion one of Nigeria’s critical fault-lines. “Sustainable response to religion as a trigger of violent conflicts must go beyond military engagement.
It must encompass interfaith dialogues, religious education, sensitization and security awareness targeting youths who have always been used as catalyst in ethno-religious violence.” It’s a timely worry —Afenifere Reacting to the remarks, the Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, said the Sultan’s declaration was a timely worry. Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, Yinka Odumakin, called on the President to create a balance in the polity. He said: “I think it is a timely worry from the Sultan and it resonates with complaints about appointments and allocation of resources.
This is a multi-ethnic country but when we begin to treat other sections of the country as if they do not matter or exist, it is not healthy for the unity of the country. “The President must watch out for such and create a balance. He cannot count chief executive officers as one from a section of the country and count a messenger as one for another section of the country and now say he has appointed one from each section of the country. He must ensure there is balance because there are qualified people for all positions in the land.” Sultan stating the obvious —Mohammed Also, Second Republic politician, Dr Junaid Mohammed, threw his weight behind the Sultan, saying “he is stating the obvious.
If he says the appointments are lopsided, then, he is stating the obvious.” We’ve taken a turn for the worse —Osuntokun Also reacting, Mr Akin Osuntokun, Political Adviser to former President Olusegun Obasanjo said the Sultan’s observation shows the country has taken a turn for the worse. Osuntokun said: “If nepotism and lopsided appointments and patronage have gotten to a stage where the Sultan feels compelled to publicly take issues within this government, then Nigeria has truly taken a turn for the worse.
It is a conspicuous indication that the salvation and redemption of Nigeria is clearly beyond the kind of prevailing constitutional structure and the capacity of the political leadership. We have reiterated the point now and again that the operating constitution is doomed to this kind of dysfunction. It is inherently structured against efficiency, equity and productivity.”
The Lagos State Acting Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, has distanced the command from the arrest of popular cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, nicknamed Bobrisky, saying no report was made against him.
Edgal, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone on Wednesday, said, “I don’t know about the arrest, and the command did not arrest him. He does not have any problem with the command. Ask him who arrested him.”
The Police Public Relations Officer for Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos, SP Dolapo Badmos, also denied the arrest of the cross-dresser.
She said, “I am not aware of the arrest. Maybe he was arrested by somewhere else.”
There were reports on Wednesday that Bobrisky was arrested in his Lekki, Lagos home on Tuesday.
According to a version of the report, his fans on social media platforms claimed that the Snapchat queen had admitted to being gay in a post which he later deleted.
Many online users have also speculated that an alleged social media war between the socialite and entrepreneur, Toyin Lawani, may have led to his arrest.
Lawani has, however, denied the allegations through one of her assistants.
The mood was apprehensive around Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West council area of Delta state on Monday as
residents and leaders sighted military aircrafts and gunboats around their communities.
We gathered that military aircrafts were seen hovering around the palace of the Gbaramatu paramount ruler in Oporoza, just as many gunboats were seen in different communities across the kingdom on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, military sources on monday evening told us that there was no cause for alarm as the hardware seen were only meant for routine patrol of the Escravos and Trans-Forcados Pipeline and not any special operation targeting specific communities.
Speaking on the development, the spokesman of the Gbaramatu Council of Chiefs, Chief Godspower Gbenekama, expressed worry of what he described as fresh deployment of military equipment and personnel to Gbaramatu, a situation which he feared might negatively affect efforts currently being made to persuade the dreaded Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) to let down its guards.
“Some few hours ago, military aircraft was roving round our palace and there were troops with gun boats all over Gbaramatu Kingdom.
“While we are appealing to the Niger Delta Avengers to sheathe their sword, we don’t know the rationale behind, and why the deployment of troops and gun boats. “Gbaramatu people are not at war with the Nigeria government, why is it that anytime there is crisis anywhere; something happens in Bayelsa, or Rivers state, the first place of call is Gbaramatu?
“We don’t want what happened in 2009 and 2016 to happen again. So let the military restrain itself and we are still appealing to the Avengers to sheathe their swords.
“The Avengers that were operating in 2016 that would say something, the next day they take drastic action are same people still operating but somehow they are now listening to us including the traditional ruler that they should sheathe their sword and give government sometime.
“And thank God nothing has happened since the renewed threat so why the deployment? Military presence in Gbaramatu and other part of Niger Delta region is capable of escalating the crisis.
“Let the military back down. We are also appealing to agitators to sheathe their sword. While we still appealing to the agitators, the military should back down so that we can sustain the peace while the federal government embark on one or two projects in the region.
However, explaining the development, the Commander of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Delta, Commodore Ibrahim Dewu, said what had been misconstrued to be a military assault was a routine patrol exercise in the area, saying the hardware seen were not deployed to harass any community or any person.
“What they are speculating as military deployment is routine patrol along Escravos and the Trans Forcados Pipeline. Once we sense any security concern on that line, our men usually move in to patrol the area. Nobody is deploying any gunboat or jets to specific communities. It is a normal patrol”, Dewu explained.
The advantages of using legal method to achieve independence are many. If
independence is achieved by due process of law, all your investments and
properties in all parts of Nigeria will remain yours. The only difference is that
you will pay the taxes and rates to the government in whose jurisdiction your
properties are located. It is just like owning properties in London or America.
Again, everybody has the fundamental human rights to have dual citizenship. If
a Biafran wants to have dual citizenships, he can still retain his Nigerian
citizenship. It is your human rights to acquire multiple citizenships. I know
some Biafran activists who have dual and triple citizenships.
Most importantly, the use of legal method has attracted the Biafran elder statesmen into the
Biafran Struggle and given the Struggle much respect and legitimacy. It has
also attracted international diplomats to visit Biafraland and observe the court
proceedings in the Federal High Court and see our level of preparedness for
independence. The Biafran Struggle is no longer in the hands of charlatans and
fraudsters but now in the hands of Biafran intellectuals, strategists, royal fathers
and diplomats. Nevertheless, we emphasise that everybody is important in the
Struggle but every person must know and do what he is best talented to do. The
big men and small men are all important and needed in the Biafran Struggle.
The Intellectuals, Technocrats, Politicians and Businessmen are all important.
Our women, children and students are all important in the Struggle. But every
person should wear the shoes of his size. The level we have reached now in the
Biafran Struggle is as a result of using the experts in their areas of expertise.
We have noted that the hatred, persecution and attacks on the Biafrans are still
going on in various parts of Nigeria. At the moment, due to the rejection of
Biafra by many people in the South-South, the word “Biafrans” is now
synonymous with the word “Ibos” even though the Igbo People are not the
only Biafrans. Nevertheless, to the people of the North, all the Easterners are
the same whether they are from the South-East or South-South. We have also
noticed that despite the hatred, persecution and attacks on the Easterners in the
North and West, the Ibos especially have continued to invest heavily in the
regions where they are hated.
The fact remains that other parts of Nigeria have not embraced our people with open hands. They suspect every move we make and however still pretend that Nigeria is one.
Member, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka has warned anybody or group, planning to rig the November 18 governorship election in Anambra State to desist from such or face the wrath of the people.
In a statement at the weekend, Ezeonwuka said election riggers would have the electorate who to contend with at the poll.
On the alleged plan by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to use ‘Federal Might’ to thwart votes in favour of its candidate, Ezeonwuka expressed the readiness of the people resist it.
He urged the electorates who have obtained their voter cards to get ready and be at the polling unit where they registered to cast their votes and ensure that their votes are counted before going home.
He said that relevant stakeholders like traditional rulers, church and leaders, town unions’ members and youths have expressed readiness to resist any attempt to rig the election.
“APGA candidate will emerge victorious. We don’t need to rig the election to achieve that because Governor Willie Obiano has done wonderfully well this past four years. The people are ready to vote and ensure that their votes count.
In APGA our slogan is: No to rigging, our votes must count,” he said.
Anambra State Deputy governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke has called on politicians and their supporters in his (Okeke) community not to disrupt the ongoing development process in the area, saying that the election should not be used as a tool of division in the community.
He said this on Tuesday in a meeting with Ofu Obi Youth Forum in Enugwu-Ukwu community, his hometown.
According to him, any vote from Enugwu-Ukwu to another political party was like disrupting the ongoing development process in the town, saying that elections would always come and go with its stories of winners and good losers but in brotherhood they shall remain for life.
“Election had never brought disunity in this community and it will not happen in my time, we are brothers, let’s watch each other’s back” he said
He said if his kinsmen from Enugwu-Ukwu community support him by voting his party, APGA in their re-election bid, posterity would hold him accountable if he fails to keep his own pact with the people.
Okeke said that the level of infrastructural development in the community was amazing when compared to what was on ground since the creation of the state. He said the community has no better time than now to appreciate his efforts in attracting the much he had done in a little space of time in office.
The deputy governor said the present government has added much value to all facets of human endeavour, including security, youth empowerment, and mechanized agriculture, among others.
A stakeholder in the community, Chief Arthur Nwandu who corroborated Okeke’s claims, concerning the dividends of democracy in the community urged voters in Enugwu-Ukwu home and abroad, to come and support the movement of development ongoing in the town.
Nwandu said that Obiano’s administration has a human face and as such need to be supported for him to complete his developmental programmes for the state.
