Sit-at-Home: “Civil disobedience is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience. Our problem is that people all over the world have obeyed the dictates of leaders…and millions have been killed because of this obedience.
Our problem is that people are obedient allover the world in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty. Our problem is that people are obedient while the jails are full of petty thieves… (and) the grand thieves are running the country. That’s our problem.” – Howard Zinn
Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state today September 13 led some residents of the state to stage a protest against the continued sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra.
Recall that IPOB had ordered a sit-at-home in all the SouthEast states tomorrow September 14 to commemorate the 2017 invasion of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu’s home in Abia state.
Today, the state governor in the company of some members of his administration, moved across several streets in the state, advising the residents of the state to ignore the directive from the IPOB members.
“The state must avoid giving urchins the chance to take over the helm of affairs. I chose to lead from the front to end this fear of molestation, harassment, intimidation.”the governor said
Following the governor’s action, socioeconomic activities, including transportation, banking and market activities sprang up around 1 pm in the area in earnest.
Rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, says the attack by bandits on the military base in Mutumji, Zamfara State on Saturday “confirms” that President Muhammadu Buhari “has technically handed over Nigeria to terrorists groups”.
JOURNALIST101 had reported that the bandits struck a forward operating base in Mutumji, Dansadau, about 80 kilometres south of the capital Gusau, at about 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, leaving at least, a dozen security personnel dead.
Speaking on the development, the convener of Concerned Nigerians opined that Buhari is not interested in defeating terrorism, rather he prioritises clampdown on separatists.
According to Adeyanju, Buhari will be more interested in deploying soldiers to aid rig Anambra rather than use them to tackle the security situation.
Buhari has technically handed over Nigeria to terrorists groups. The takeover of a military base yesterday in Zamfara confirms this. He is not interested in fighting insecurity but critics and the opposition. He hates IPOB & Oduduwa agitators so much but pampers terrorists.
You will all see how Buhari will deploy 30,000 soldiers & police in an attempt to rig the Anambra elections but he ignores all the security challenges in the North. These bandits have brought down a military jet & killed many soldiers & citizens but he is not concerned,” Adeyanju wrote via his known twitter account.
The federal government has kicked off training socially discontented youths with sympathies for the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) in various skills.
As an alternative to white-collar jobs, the Minister for Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said the training in Owerri, Imo state, was one way the government plans to end youth poverty “and social discontent and give them a new lease of life.”
In a statement made available to IGBERE TV by Charles Akpan, Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations in the ministry on Friday in Abuja, Ngige said after the zonal skill development training in Imo state, it would be extended to the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Ngige said degree holders were also allowed to partake in the skills training. “This is a golden opportunity for you to add to the paper certificate you already have,” Ngige said.
IPOB’s enforced sit at home is both an Economic disaster and a political master stroke. Depending which angle you are interested to look from.
That a group can ground more than 5 states at will, a group banned by the state.
I have read people argue that that IPOB employs violence to enforce her stay at home. From the little evidence I have seen, yes violence and threat of violence plays at important role however, this opens another portal of analysis.
Simply put, the state do not have the resources to protect her citizens in the face of said IPOB threats. That’s another failure.
Any sensible person understands the prevailing political thought in the SE. Thoughts moulded by life experiences and ongoing events
Tragically, it appears that the so called elected political actors in the South East appear not to be in tune with this prevailing mood, deliberately scoring unneeded own goals and gifting IPOB the political initiatives.
The recent visit of Buhari to Imo was a diaster. Empty streets ?
The recent calls and praise from Governor Umahi which has all hues of lies and sycophancy!
The response from Wike which was a put down on Umahi.
The alleged rename of Imo State University!
Too numerous own goals.
When political office holders continues to goof big time, they gift IPOB the political initiative on a free plater.
I just read that IPOB has declared Next Tuesday as a sit at home to commemorate the invasion of Kanu’s ancestral house. That is a joke taken too far.
Very soon IPOB will declare everyday a sit at home! This group is now behaving like a child who finds himself in a candy shop and cannot manage his good luck. Totally unhelpful, unnecessary and arrogant.
This must stop,
Unfortunately, political office holders are not helping issues with their disastrous Behaviours.
