Nnamdi Kanu collected money from Atiku – Prophet Nwoko

An Enugu-based Prophet, Anthony Nwoko, has claimed that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu collected money from Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on the eve of the presidential election.

DAILY POST reports that Kanu, who was propagating election boycott message changed his stand few days to the election, after he announced that an unnamed document had been signed.

Prophet Nwoko has now come out to say that the IPOB leader received cash from Atiku, the PDP presidential candidate, to call off the boycott.

Addressing a press conference in Enugu on Tuesday, Nwoko also came hard on leaders of IPOB, MASSOB, BIM and other pro-Biafran agitators, saying that they do not have the mandate of God to lead the struggle for the real freedom of the people.

He said, “It is time for Igbos to realize that they have fumbled for a long time. The agitators from the Igbo land have failed. Nnamdi Kanu with his group has failed, Uwazuruike and his group has failed, Uchenna Madu with his group has failed. Let them come and see the great light from the East who is going to offer great glory into their lives this year, 2019.

“On the part of Nnamdi Kanu, whatever money he collected from the PDP, which I saw from the revelation, let Atiku go and collect his money back.

“Forget about IPOB business with Biafra. IPOB and other groups don’t have any standing to talk about Biafran nation because they are not mandated to do it.

“Nnamdi Kanu has already decided that he will not walk within Christ’s mandate and for that reason, IPOB and his group should forget about the Biafran message that God has sent to his people.

“Wherever Nnamdi Kanu is, let him and his boys sheath their sword and seek peace. Many have died in the name of IPOB. Seek the light through prophet Nwoko. You will see the light before May 29th this year if you are ready to seek the face of God.

“Prophet Nwoko is using this medium to tell my people to repent for the hour has come. You want Biafra, give me seven days, I will deliver it to the whole nation. Biafra is not a hidden mandate, it is a nation that will give peace to the entire world.”

On Buhari’s re-election, Nwoko said, “If he thinks he is going to rule Nigeria with this kind of situation the nation is in right now, he is making a blunder. God did not accept his first four years and he has also rejected his second tenure.”

The Prophet said that Nigeria was in darkness as a result of bad leadership, noting that the election which was held in the country could not guarantee peace and stability but more troubles.

“It’s time for Nigerians to know that the election that was conducted was not the will of God. The time has come for the world to know the truth because the Bible says that you shall know the truth and the truth shall set us free.

“Anybody thinking that Nigerian election will give them peace and happiness is on the negative side. God did not approve this election. God did not welcome Buhari again neither did he want Atiku.

“Let Atiku go to court and withdraw his case. The chapter of PDP is closed from heaven. There is nothing like PDP and APC right now in heaven.

“When the light comes, Nigeria will see peace, when the light comes, Igbo nation will see peace, when the light comes Africa and the whole world will see peace,” he said.

10 ways to spend Easter holiday

Easter holiday weekend is here and sadly, the weather is not looking too favourable. However, this long weekend provides a perfect opportunity for home improvement and family togetherness.

Easter is traditionally a time for DIY (Don’t Injure Yourself), be it from decorating to landscaping or even solidifying your family bond. We take a look at ten such ways:

1 Make your home clean

Eastertide has officially sprung, so what better time for a home clean? You can either choose to focus on one room, or work your way around the whole property. It’s a great time to tackle some of those jobs you may have been putting off, for example cleaning out the fridge, or washing the windows. You’ll be amazed at how much better the place looks– and it also provides the perfect opportunity to try rearranging the furniture.

2 Go to the cinema

The weather on Sunday is set to be the best of the days over the long weekend, so that is the perfect day to go to the cinema. You can take your kids to the nearest cinema within your reach. Cinemas such as Filmhouse IMAX, Silverbird Cinema, Ozone, Ground Zero Cinema, Nollywood Cinemas among others would be best place to be.

3 Upcycle

Don’t have the money for a new sofa or kitchen table, but the old one is looking a little bit tatty? Take the Easter holidays as a chance to upcycle! A fresh coat of paint can make your old table and chair set look fresh, while a new throw (or if you’re feeling creative, sewing new covers) can add a whole new lease of life to a sofa.

4 Add a splash of colour

A lick of paint can totally refresh a room! Whether your living room looks a bit dull, or your child has outgrown the design of their bedroom, Easter provides a perfect opportunity for redecoration. Peruse the shops for your ideal paint or wallpaper and make your home your personal haven. If it is a child’s room that needs attention, make sure they help pick out the colours and design and even get them involved with the painting if they are old enough. If they are teenagers, you could even set a budget for items such as accessories (lampshade, curtains, etc.). This will make them feel prouder of the finished product – and might even mean they will keep it a bit cleaner!

5 Clean the gutters

It’s not the most pleasant job but it has to be done – especially following such a stormy winter! Not cleaning the gutters can lead to serious problems, since water that gets stuck in the gutters finds the path of least resistance when it tries to drain…which can often be into the walls and ceilings of your house.

6 Spend time with your little ones

Take the time to talk to your children about the Easter story, or your spiritual beliefs. Children like to understand and celebrate religious ceremonies, and take advantage of the many festivals at this time of year to encourage your children’s spiritual development.

7 Share more moments with your family

Sneak a little time away from everyone. Give your partner an hour away from the family and ask them to do the same for you. With the longer days, this could even be a stroll once the children are in bed. When you are away, give yourself the time to enjoy your surroundings and the changes that Spring has brought.

8 Enjoy a meal together

A meal with your family will quench your hunger during the Easter break. If your children are old enough, get them involved in choosing ingredients, shopping for them and cooking the meal. Even if they play a small part, it’s a helpful and positive step for their development for them to join in with mealtimes.

9 Pray together

A family that stays together prays together. Ensure you share the word and pray together to make your Easter a blessed one. You can cite several verses from the Holy Book for your family to stumble upon during your leisure time and give them room to ask questions when needed.

10 Break your chores into bit

Finally, if you really need to get some of your house chores done, be realistic. Think about what you can really achieve with everyone at home (not much, am I right?). Break down large chores into chunks of one hour tasks and don’t be too hard on yourself if you don’t get everything done. Long weekends are for you all as a family to chill out, come together and create some lovely memories.

Pro-Biafra prophet and ally turned critic of Nnamdi Kanu murdered in Enugu

A popular prophet, Anthony Nwoko, has allegedly been murdered in cold blood in Enugu.

Until recently, Nwoko was a close ally of leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, who prayed for him and the group.

Daily Sun gathered that the man of God, believed to be in his late 60s, was reportedly killed by unknown assailants last Sunday night at his apartment located at No. 18 Ezebinugwu Street, beside Bright Land International School, Ugbene 2, in the Trans-Ekulu-Abakpa axis of Enugu.

Nwoko had lived alone, so, it was said that his death became known when a neighbour noticed that the door of his apartment had remained open; peeped in and saw the man in the pool of his blood.

The attention of the caretaker of the compound was called, who immediately alerted the police, who responded to the scene.

No official report has come from the Enugu State Police Command, but Daily Sunlearnt that they had initially arrested occupants of the compound.

Before his death, Nwoko had taken to social media, particularly Facebook, to speak about his relationship with Kanu which, according to him, went sour after the IPOB leader made him relocate from Lagos to Enugu only to abandon him.

His last posts on Facebook were at about 1:40pm on April 14, where he uploaded various online reports of his views on Biafra agitation, including video clips from Kpakpando TV.

He had in press conferences on January 8 and March 18, 2019, respectively, accused Kanu and some other pro-Biafra campaigners of turning the agitation into a money-making

Nwoko had raised the alarm that he was receiving death threats from members of the IPOB over his bribery allegations against their leader Kanu.

The cleric had claimed that Kanu not only collected huge sums of monies as bribe from the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, ahead of the February 23 election, but planned to return to Nigeria to “consolidate on his Biafra propaganda if Atiku had won”.

“They have been calling me with different lines, making different phone calls, threatening my life. They are calling me fake because I stand by the truth. I went to Kuje prison to pray for Nnamdi Kanu and the next court case he was released.

“I went to Affara-Ukwu to tell him the way forward; he did not listen. Many people are not listening to the voice of God and they want me to be that way. Prophet Nwoko says no. I will never compromise.

“Even if they kill me, I will return with the light of heaven. I am not afraid of the people of the world. I am telling Uche Mefor and IPOB to stop threatening my life. Let me put this straight to everyone: I am ready to die standing by the truth because that is why Jesus Christ came for.

“If everybody will keep quiet, this nation will be destroyed. If everybody will keep quiet, Biafra will not come. Let people know the truth.”

Nwoko hailed from Umuahia in Abia state.

No imminent plan to remove fuel subsidy –FG

AMID growing concerns over possible hike in the prices of refined petroleum products in Nigeria, the Federal Government yesterday said it has no immediate plan to gut the subsidy currently being enjoyed by the citizens despite a tacit support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for its removal.

Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, who gave the government’s assurance at a closing press briefing by the Nigerian delegation at the just-concluded 2019 Spring Meetings of the World Bank and the IMF in Washington DC, said the government was still working on building the needed buffers to cushion possible shocks from subsidy removal and may not burden the citizens unnecessarily without credible alternatives.

Her explanation comes as rumours of imminent subsidy withdrawal and widespread cases of petroleum products scarcity and panic buying spread across major cities of the country.

According to her, “there is no imminent plan to re- move fuel subsidy. We are here to discuss with the global community on various policy issues .

“One of the issues that always come up in the report especially by the IMF as a corporate body is how we handle fuel subsidy.

The IMF is saying fuel subsidy is better removed so that you can use the re- sources for other important sectors.

“In principle, that is a fact . But in Nigeria, we don’t have plans to remove fuel subsidy at this time because we have not yet designed buffers that can enable us remove fuel subsidy and provide cushions for our people. So there is no plan to remove subsidy at the moment.

“We will be discussing with various groups if we have to. What are the alternatives? We have not yet found viable alternatives. So we are not yet at the point of removing fuel subsidy.”

The Minister also revealed that her delegation held discussions with the World Bank with a view to taking another $1billion loan to finance development of the power sector.

Her words: “We also met with the World Bank Power Sector team and discussed the way forward on the proposed $1billion Nigeria Performance Based Loan (PBL). We agreed to bring relevant MDAs together to ensure that we advance this operation in a timely manner.”

She said the government would also discuss the Country Portfolio Performance of Nigeria which currently stands at $9.8 billion with the Nigerian team at the World Bank on how to manage the portfolio for optimum results.

Ahmed, who briefed alongside the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma, and Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, assured the Muhammadu Buhari administration was already working hard to create the necessary buffers for citizens before considering the IMF advice to remove subsidy.

Earlier in her opening press briefing at the ongoing Spring Meetings of the World Bank and the Inter- national Monetary Fund, (IMF) , in Washington DC, Managing Director of the IMF, Christine Lagarde, had advised Nigerian government to remove all forms of subsidies to en- able it raise more money to fund its dilapidated infrastructure and improve the living standards of the people given its poor tax to GDP status in comparison to others countries in its income bracket . This was even as she disclosed that a whopping $5.2trillion has so far been spent by oil producing nations on fuel subsidy in over four years.

Meanwhile, in a related development, the minister hinted of a plan by the Federal Government to launch a N15billion Green Bond to generate more resources to finance agriculture, solar power, and water supply projects.

According to her, the Bond which is being pack- aged by the Debt Management Office (DMO) is coming after the successful implementation of the first one floated by the Federal Government.

Anambra Assembly outlaws expensive funerals

The Anambra State House of Assembly on Wednesday outlawed expensive funerals in the state.

Passing the bill entitled a Law To Control Burial/Funeral Ceremonial Activities in the State, the House said it had become an offence to hold a funeral for more than a day in the state.

Before this development, communities had held funerals on an average of three days.

But the bill sponsored by the member representing Anaocha II constituency, Charles Ezeani stated that “Burial/funeral control bill is aimed at cutting down the cost of burial activities in the state”.

The bill provided that in the event of death, “No person shall deposit any corpse in the mortuary or any place beyond two months from the date of the death, while burial ceremonies in the state shall be for one day.”

The law prohibited destruction of property, gunshots, praise-singing, blocking of roads and streets during burial ceremonies in the state.

The bill also provided that, “No person shall subject any relation of the deceased person to a mourning period of more than one week from the date of the burial ceremony”.

It further stipulates that during burial and funeral ceremonial activities, the family of the deceased “shall provide food for their kindred, relatives and other sympathizers at their own discretion.

Speaking to newsmen, Ezeani said a monitoring and implementation committee that would enforce the law would be put in place when the governor assents it.
